Summer House Scoops: Hosting Beautifully with Pets

We adore our pets. Truly, the are part of our family. But, when guests arrive, a little extra polish goes a long way. 

Start with a fresh grooming: Decker’s in Bird Rock is our new go-to for keeping pups guest-ready. (They also have locations in Bay Park and La Jolla Village.) Create a calm pet retreat with a bed or basket to keep toys contained and give your dog a cozy space of their own.  

Before guests step inside, reset your entryway: vacuum, wash bedding, and freshen bowls. For guests with sensitivities, keep lint rollers and fragrance-free candles handy. And don’t forget to share house rules: whether it’s no dogs on the sofa or kindly asking  to not "feed human food to our dog", so everyone knows what to expect.
